Whakapapa Holiday Park is situated in Whakapapa Village in the heart of the Tongariro National Park. You can find us 6 km up State Highway 48 on your way up Mount Ruapehu.
At 1160m, this is the highest serviced camp ground in New Zealand, for a stay with easy access to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, and as close to the ski-fields as you can possibly get.
Most international visitors enter New Zealand via Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch International Airports. From there, you can travel by road or rail or catch a domestic flight to one of the regional airports like Hamilton, Rotorua, Taupo, New Plymouth, Wanganui or Palmerston North.
If you are coming from Australia, you can fly direct into Hamilton or Palmerston North. From May 2009 it is expected that there will be new direct air service from Sydney, Melbourne and/or Brisbane into Rotorua as well.
